To commemorate his one year in office as a Member of the Osun State House of Assembly, representing Ife Central Constituency, Hon. Abiola Jeremiah Awoyeye registered no fewer than 100 persons from his constituent into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.

 

Registration was held in Ife on Tuesday, where the vulnerable, persons with disabilities, women and men were enrolled into the scheme.

 

Speaking with our correspondent at the event, Awoyeye said it was essential for the people to have access to good health.

 

“Health is wealth, the Osun Health Insurance Agency came to the House of Assembly and they talked about the need to enrol our people in the scheme, and the Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has done a lot in that aspect. He enrolled all retirees from the State, PWDs into the scheme. And this is one of the things we can do to make sure that the administration goes forward by helping our people by enrolling them.

 

“By doing this, we are encouraging our people, we are also doing this to create awareness that OHIS is taking this initiative to the informal sector in the State for them to enjoy the benefits of the health scheme.

 

“It is available all over the country, it is just N12,606 for an individual and a family of 6 at the rate of N57,000, I think it is commendable and we are celebrating it today”, he explained.

 

He also reiterated his promises to his constituent by giving them good governance, good representation. While calling for more support to deliver more on campaign promises.

 

Representing the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Pharmacist Tiamiyu Olasunkanmi, the Director of Programme of OSHIA, applauded the lawmaker for fulfilling his pledge of enrolling people from his constituency into the health scheme while urging other members of the House to fulfilling theirs.

 

“We are here to expand our scope in the Agency, which is the enrollment of people at the informal sector of the state. And one of the ways, was our advocacy visit to the members of the Osun State House of Assembly to enrol people in their constituencies.

 

“We applaud the Honourable representative Ife Central for fulfilling his commitment at his one year celebration in office. And enrolling over 100 people into the scheme, whom he has duly paid, to enjoy the scheme for the next 12 months”, he added.

 

He advised other members of the House to make due their pledge of enrolling people from their Constituencies.

 

He also called on well to do individuals in the communities, philanthropist to enrol people into the scheme, so they can also enjoy the benefits of good health.

 

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our correspondent appreciated the Member for the registering them into the health scheme to enjoy good healthcare services, they reiterated their support for him and his administration.
