Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have reportedly arrested a Nigerian youth, Aliyu Sanusi, in Sokoto State for allegedly printing and distributing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest materials.
Human rights activist and Convener of #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, disclosed information about Sanusi’s arrest in a post on his X platform (formerly Twitter).
Sowore, also former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 general elections, said Sanusi was arrested on Monday evening.
Sowore, who said Sanusi was arrested at the Sama Road area of Sokoto, the state capital, demanded immediate release of the victim.
He said, “The lawless @OfficialDSSNG has arrested Aliyu Sanusi for printing and distributing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria material in Sokoto state.
“He was arrested yesterday evening from the Sama Road Area in Sokoto. The DSS is directed to release Aliyu Sanudi immediately.”
According to SaharaReporters, “the DSS had on Monday released a Nigerian youth, Bashir Abubakar, who was arrested in Kano, the Kano State capital on Sunday over support for the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship in Nigeria.
“Barrister Harun Magashi, Abubakar’s lawyer and former presidential running mate to Sowore in the 2023 general elections, confirmed Abubakar’s release on Monday.
“Magashi had told SaharaReporters that Abubakar was released on Monday but the DSS had ordered him to bring the T-shirts he printed advertising the planned #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria nationwide protest.”
