Some unidentified political thugs have set ablaze the home of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward secretary, Azubuike Christian Uwechue in Delta state.

Azubuike, a grassroots mobilizer who had reportedly clashed with party leaders over allegations of anti-party activities and accepting money from opposition party members, experienced the attack on the evening of Saturday, July 27, in the Ogwashi-Uku area.

An eyewitness, identified as Collins Ibieneye, recounted how the hoodlums invaded Azubuike’s residence, jumped over the fence, and destroyed window glasses and other valuables.

According to Collins, the thugs carried gasoline, foam, axes, Dane guns, cutlasses, and other dangerous weapons during the attack.

“They beat up three people they met inside the house, including two young women. One of the thugs carted away a laptop and two sneakers while another was filming the activity,” Collins said.

According to Collins, the timely intervention of local vigilantes and neighbours prevented the hoodlums from burning the entire residence.

“The thugs vowed to come back and raze the entire building completely if he did not stop interfering in the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aniocha LG chapter, and the state at large,” he added. (The Nation)
