The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC,) has described the death of a chieftain of the party in the state, Hon Mudashiru Oguntola Toogun, as pathetic, sudden, shocking and tragic.

The Osun State chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, today, stated that the news of the death of Hon Toogun, former member of the House of Representatives who represented Iwo Federal Constituency between 1992-1993, was like a dream to him which was very difficult to believe.

Lawal noted that the deceased who was a former Special Adviser/Chairman, Committee on Peaceful Co-existence between the Fulani/Bororo and Crop Farmers in Osun State was a resourceful chieftain of the APC whose political influence spread across the length and breadth of the state.

The state APC chairman explained that the vacuum created by the sudden death of Hon Toogun at 66 would be pretty difficult to fill as his actions and inactions in and out of the public office reflected the undiluted loyalty he was having for the APC.

Lawal consoled the sons and daughters of Iwo in general and the APC members and supporters in particular in the ancient city over the death of Hon Toogun who gave his all to the advancement of the opposition APC in the state.

In the words of the APC chairman: “The way Allah works is incomprehensible which should be the reason I am taking solace in the fact that death is a necessary end of all mortals.

“There was nothing to show that our dear brother, Hon Mudashiru Oguntola Toogun, would exit this world without bidding a farewell to both his political associates and members of his family.

“We shall always remember Hon Toogun for his effortless jokes no matter the prevailing situation at any particular time in his life time.

“The unchallengeable God Almighty knew why He deprived us the continuous existence of Hon Mudashiru Oguntola Toogun on the surface of the earth.

“On behalf of my family, our party, the APC in Osun State, I am commiserating with the entire people of Iwo over the sudden death of one of their illustrious sons, Alhaji Toogun.

“May God Almighty grant his dependants, children, the widow and the people of Iwo, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of the political enigma who left this world when his services to the political landscape of Osun State was mostly needed.

“May Allah continue to repose his soul and forgive what might be his excesses in this world”, Lawal prayed.
