The Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, led by Ajala Adetunji David, in a press release voiced their concerns over the current state of governance in Nigeria.

The press conference, centered around the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE, was to address the pressing state of our nation.

In his address, Ajala criticized the government for failing to address the economic and social issues facing Nigerians.

He said “We suspended our protests in Osun State to give the government a chance for meaningful dialogue and solutions, however, it is with great disappointment that we observe nothing considerable has been done to address our concerns.”he stated

The group highlighted several factors crippling the society including ongoing fuel scarcity, rising costs of living, and the recent ban on students under 18 from writing WAEC and NECO examinations. “This decision not only misplaces priorities but also denies our youth the basic right to education and a future,”

They furthered condemned the recent purchase of a private aircraft for the presidency, describing it as an extravagant expense amid widespread economic hardship. “Such actions show a blatant disregard for the suffering of the masses and the procurement process,”

However the group made it demands clear to the government which if implemented could help evade the looming crisis.

“Our demands are clear: for a better, and more responsive government that prioritizes the welfare of her citizens is expected to have let the public be aware of what has been put in place after the suspension of the first protest” the statement reads.

Despite a recent publication from the Osun State government promising to address some of the coalition’s demands, David said no action has been taken .“We have not seen any concrete steps taken by the government to fulfill their promises,” he remarked.

The coalition warned that if the government does not take immediate steps to address these issues, they would organize a large-scale protest on October 1st. “Our patience is not infinite. If the government continues to turn a deaf ear to the cries of the people, they should brace themselves for the mother of all protests,” David warned.
