…. Pledges scholarships for students

The Osun State university alumni association held a workshop aimed at fostering the alumni leadership in the university advancement.

The event which was held on Friday in the university campus brought together members of the association from different states across the country.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye who was part of the workshop implored the members to continue to promote unity within the association.

He said “ If you are in a position of authority then you must know it comes with great responsibility. I want to the alumni association to continue to be united so that they can fully enforce development.”

The President of the Osun state university alumni association and host of the event Abubakar Abdulbasit Olalekan while addressing the newsmen emphasized the importance of the workshop.

Abdulbasit said “ We are trying to learn from the people who have done this before and leverage on the Human Resources and network that we have as an association to provide opportunities such as employment and career growth”

He furthered highlighted the commitment of the association to support the students “ It is important for us to motivate people so we as an association we are trying to give scholarships to students and many of our members have come together to make this possible”

One of the guest speakers of the workshop, Engr. (Chief) Wale Olaleye, former Global President, Great Ife Alumni Association, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife spoke at the event, encouraged effective Alumni leadership and community that will ensure and guarantee University development.

He said “Organising social events,executing mentorship programs,creating online platforms, showcasing alumni achievement and many more strategies are all strategies for empowering members and enhancing institutional growth”

Olaleye emphasized that the university needs collaboration and support of the Alumni for the development of their University and for the Alumni Association to perform its roles creditably well, the members must and have to be well equipped for the task.
