Facts have emerged on the last moments of Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara, who died on Thursday, August 29, 2024 – hours after undergoing a prostrate cancer surgery the previous night at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

A report this Saturday morning by CKN News quoted an eye witness who spoke on condition of anonymity as disclosing that, “when he wore the green theater operational wear, late CP Abdulwaheed Ayilara asked the doctors to give him few minutes. He moved to one side and observed two rakaat naflah.

“He sought forgiveness and said he has forgiven anyone that sinned against him.

“He went further to say that he owed no one except two people. He said he promised someone money for cow for burial and also his lawyer ticket fare from Abuja to Lagos.”

The source said that CP Ayilara, a devout Muslim, concluded by saying; “Should this lead to my death, NASFAT Mission Board should be called to take care of all the burial process. Allahu Akbar.”

Ayilara was a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department as at November 2023 when he was unveiled as the Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos, taking over from AIG Idowu Owohunwa.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed Ayilara to head Akwa Ibom State Command in February 2024.
