The Osun Community and Social Development Agency has sought for more media partnership to propagate the community interventions undertaken by the agency for hard-to-reach communities.

The General Manager of the Agency, Mrs Funmi Abokede made this known at a two-day media engagement programme in Osogbo.

Abokede called on the Media professionals to create more awareness of the Agency’s projects in order for development to reach areas that so much desire it.

She said, ” We call on the Media to help us create more awareness, there are communities which haven’t experienced any interventions from the State Government, we need the media to help us promote, propagate and create more awareness to the people.

“By doing documentaries of the communities, before the agency’s interventions and after the interventions, educating the residents of the communities, also to promote the agenda of the communities for all to enjoy the dividends of good democracy”, she explained further.

Similarly, Abokede appreciated the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for owing to his interest in the provision of basic infrastructural needs for the rural dwellers in the state.

She further explained that the Governor had committed millions naira to the development of the lives of the Persons with disabilities since he came to the office.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke has continually been given full support for the execution of micro projects spread across the state. The government has spent about N2 billion on over 267 micro projects across the state. He has committed over 70 million naira to PWDs since he came to the office. One of the projects is the construction of a Development Centre for People with Disabilities.

“Throughout Nigeria, Osun is the only state that has a Centre for People with Disabilities. We have the centre at Edunabon. There are provisions for persons that have spinal cord injury, in which they are provided with medication, therapy and other amenities”, The General Manager reiterated .

Speaking on future projects, she added that the agency is looking forward to completing about 250 microprojects in Osun State.

However, she urged communities who are in need of interventions to come to the Agency to express their interest, adding that the Government of Adeleke had made resources available for the Agency to meet the Peoples demand.

As part of the Media engagement, the Media were divided into two teams, which they visited places Agurodo Health Centre in Ejigbo Local Government Area, Igbotele in Odo-Otin LGA, they also visited the the Disability village, the Elderly Persons Support Centre among others.
