The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has denied a recent media report alleging that the commission criticized the state of schools in Kwara State.

UBEC described the report as ‘only false and just the reporter’s imagination’

In a letter sent to to the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, the commission clarified that the executive Secretary, Unwaha Yahaya Ismaila at no point during his visit monitored the Master Trainers workshop in Ibadan, Oyo State neither did he make any statement concerning the state of education in Kwara, Kogi, or any other state.

“It was only pointed out that the workshop in Ibadan included participants from Kogi, Kwara, and the southern states, while a similar training was simultaneously occurring in Bauchi for participants from the northern states,” Ismaila stated.

“This information did not in any way suggest or relate to the state of education in these states.” He said

The commission is aware that this false report would have caused you some concern and embarrassment, but you should rest assured that it is not the practice of the Executive Secretary to use a public forum like the visit to Ibadan to cast aspersions on the efforts states are making towards the smooth implementation of the UBE programme“ Ismailia concluded
