Afrobeats legend Bisade Ologunde, famously known as Lagbaja, has made a surprising return to the music scene after years of silence. Known for his unique masked persona and socially conscious music, Lagbaja had been absent from the public eye since his last appearance at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), where he performed alongside Rema.
In June, rumours about Lagbaja’s death spread across social media, causing a stir among fans and music enthusiasts. However, these rumours remained unconfirmed until 25 August when Lagbaja’s name appeared on the tracklist of Fireboy DML’s forthcoming album, ‘Adedamola.’
Fireboy announced the release of his fourth album, ‘Adedamola,’ on 29 August through his social media platforms. When he unveiled the album’s tracklist, Lagbaja was listed as a featured artist on the sixth track, titled ‘Back N Forth.’
This collaboration marks Lagbaja’s return to the limelight, bringing excitement to fans who have eagerly awaited new music from the iconic artist. Alongside Lagbaja, the album also features contributions from other notable artists, including Seun Kuti, Lojay, American singer-songwriter Jon Baptiste, and the renowned DJ and producer Spinall.
‘Adedamola’ will be Fireboy’s first album since his third album ‘Playboy’ was released in August 2022, further solidifying his status as one of the leading voices in Afrobeats today.
