The Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Prophet Solomon Alao, has expressed astonishment at the soaring price of petrol, which has reached N1,000 per litre, despite Nigeria being an oil-producing nation.
He urged political leaders to put the nation’s interests above personal gains.
Alao spoke during the church’s 99th anniversary celebration, tagged “For it was founded on a Rock – Matthew 7:25,” and held on September 14 at Seraphim Land in Maba, Ogun State.
He said, “There is no justification for Nigerians to be paying such exorbitant prices for petrol when our country is rich in crude oil,” Alao said. “Our leaders need to prioritise the nation’s welfare over their self-interest. Nigeria should not be buying foreign oil when we have our own. We should be setting the price, not relying on foreign markets.”
The cleric also called on citizens to support their leaders through prayers and cooperation.
He emphasised that Nigeria’s diversity should be a strength rather than a source of division.
“We must pray for our leaders to have the wisdom to make the right decisions and act in the nation’s best interest,” he added.
In his message to the church, Alao urged unity among Christians, stressing the importance of collective action and behavior to build a strong Christian community.
“The continued existence of our church for 99 years is a testament to God’s grace. We must strive to be united, act as one, and strengthen our Christian body,” he said.
