Popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi, is set to unveil her new project— a gospel reality show tagged, At Home with Tope Alabi, aimed at mentoring up and coming gospel singers in the industry.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Alabi described the project as a ‘divine mandate’ that she got years ago.
She said, “I got this message about eight years ago that I should bring young gospel singers together in a retreat and mentor them. In the process of doing that, I will be inviting ministers of God and prominent gospel musicians to join us.
“Essentially, it is all about having a reality retreat/show with a divine purpose to mentor up-and-coming gospel singers with the word of God. We will read the Bible, and you are free to ask questions. You will tell us about your experiences and the seasoned gospel singers and ministers in the house will proffer corrections where necessary.”
She added that it took some time to start the project because of lack of funds. “I discovered that people are not enthusiastic about sponsoring anything that has to do with gospel, and it is not easy for me to do it alone in terms of funding. I intend to make it an annual event if there is funding for it.”
She stated that top gospel stars expected for the pioneer edition were Baba Ayewa (Adelakun), Toun Soetan, TY Bello and Dupe Solana, among others.
