…I want to kill myself for govt to take care of my children – blind man

Emotion ran high weekend on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, after a visually impaired man who attempted to jump into the lagoon, blamed his action on hopelessness and hardship.

The 65-year-old father of two, Ewenla Adetomiwa, who was with his two children aged 16 and 12, respectively, was said to have been prevented from jumping into the lagoon by a good Samaritan who alerted the Police. Motorists who witnessed the incident also stopped on the bridge to assist the good Samaritan in holding the rescued man before the arrival of some policemen.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin, confirmed the incident, saying “policemen rushed to the scene where the victim, a blind man who resides in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, and his two children were seen on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in the midst of a crowd and other motorists.”
