The Kwara State Ministry of Health has begun sensitization for the nationwide medical outreach tagged Project 10 Million, the sensitization campaign officially commenced today at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, made this announcement during a briefing at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace, where she addressed the Emir and his council.

The Commissioner explained that the outreach was aimed at providing comprehensive health screenings to all citizens of Kwara State, enabling early detection and further medical treatment of hypertension and diabetes where necessary.

Dr. El-Imam emphasized that this medical outreach is part of several ongoing health interventions by the State government. These include free medical and surgical outreaches, which have been successfully conducted across all local government areas of the State. She further announced the commencement of a second phase focusing on cancer screening and treatment, with the current phase dedicated to testing for hypertension and blood sugar level.

The Commissioner highlighted that this initiative is a mandatory national effort, aimed at ensuring a healthy population across all 36 States of Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council and Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, praised the State government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritizing the health and well-being of Kwara residents. He commended the efforts to make these health services free and accessible to all, and offered prayers for the success of the outreach led by Dr. El-Imam and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaja Afusat Ibrahim.

Other dignitaries present at the event included members of the Emir’s council and Staff of the Ministry.
