A Civil Society Organization, Tobest Liberation Movement and Empowerment Initiative, on Sunday held a special session to honour the victims of the 2020 EndSARS protest.

It would be recalled that the EndSARS protest clocked four years on October 20 and some youths held remembrance in honour of those whose lives were lost during the protest and most especially, to Lekki Toll Gate shooting.

At its meeting on Sunday, Chairman of the organization, Comrade Hassan Owolabi set aside every agenda of the meeting to hold a memorial for the “fallen heroes”.

According to a statement obtained by InsightMedia, the TLM specifically honoured those whose lives were lost in Osun State, while calling on organizations to remain focused in their bid to bring justice.

The statement reads, “Today, the Tobest Liberation Movement and Empowerment Initiative (TLM) solemnly pays tribute to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives during the historic EndSARS protests. We remember Comrades like Olamilekan Fresh, Hammed, and numerous others who lost their lives in Osun State and across Nigeria while standing against police brutality and for justice. Their courage and ultimate sacrifice continue to inspire the pursuit of a more just and equitable society.

“The Chairman of TLM, Comrade Owolabi Hassan Tobest, commends the enduring bravery of those who remain imprisoned for their participation in the protests. He calls for justice and equity for all of them. Comrade Tobest also acknowledged the lasting legacy of these fallen heroes, stating that their courage serves as a beacon for the continued fight for freedom and fairness in Nigeria. He unequivocally applauded the following Youth movements in the state such as Coalition Of Civil Society Organization CCSO, Coalition Of Concerned Nigeria Citizens (CNCC), Joint Action Force, (JAF), Democratic Socialist Movement DSM, Federation Of Informal Workers (FIWON), Take it Back Movement, (TIB), Revolution Now, CORE, National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN) and all other Youths Group’s and Organization that remain focused and committed to the struggle.

“TLM earnestly appeals to the Osun State Government to extend compassion and support to the families of these fallen heroes, recognizing the deep loss they have endured. We also urge for the unconditional release of all detained protesters who continue to face imprisonment without due process. These individuals stood up not only for their rights but also for the collective rights of all Nigerians, and they deserve their freedom without delay.

“In the spirit of progress and national healing, we call upon both the Federal and State Governments to initiate quarterly youth stakeholder town hall meetings. These meetings would promote inclusivity, empower young people, and provide a platform for meaningful dialogue, ensuring that the voices of Nigeria’s youth are heard in shaping the future of our nation.”
