It was an atmosphere of excitement, fanfair and thanksgiving as Oasis Royal Academy marked the 10th anniversary in grand style on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The school, which was founded in 2014 by Representative Bamidele Salam and his wife, Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam, also held a luncheon for parents.

Speaking with the newsmen, Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam explained how the journey has been so far.

“The journey has been so glorious, we have lots of challenges, it’s a school business in Nigeria, people believe you make a lot of profit, and the profit goes back into the development of the school.

“We started with two students, a set of twins in August 2014, as a summer school, by September 14 when the school took off, we had only 14 students, we sre here today with more than 600 students.

“When any child steps into Oasis schools, is like there’s a aura in the air, maybe it’s love, that makes them doesn’t want them to go away”, she explained.

She also stated that the school had commenced the use of Smart boards, CBT exams before it was introduced by the West African Examination Council, WAEC and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

“We have smart board in all of our classrooms, right from Primary to secondary, and thats technology for you. We don’t use white board and chalk, we use smart board.

“So, even before Waec introduced this hybrid into the scheme, we have started the use if smart board to set questions for our students for them to answer the questions, even before UTME, we have started CBT examination. Oasis is A tech service school”, she said.

She also advised parents, guardians to monitor their children and spend more time with them.

“My advise for the parents is that the new generation of parents push everything to the school, they should spend more time with Thier children at home, check what the children are doing, be more involved in the education of their children, not pushing everything to the teachers in school and when they come back they dont check homework or anything, when anything goes wrong, they go back to the school.

“So, parents should be more involved in what the children are doing in the school, ask questions,be free with them, be their friends”, she advised.

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye commended the lawmaker and his wife on their success while reiterating that the government is working towards an enabling environment for the students of the State.

He said the government will continue to support the business environment for all entrepreneurs in the State.

Some of the parents who spoke with InsightMedia appreciated the proprietors of the school, describing the learning environment at Oasis Royal Academy as “excellent”.

Parents and students were entertained as they participated in various competitions and won gifts.
