The Osun Renaissance Project, a socio-political organization, has condemned the Adeleke-led Osun State Government for alleged land-grabbing and high-handedness.
In a statement, the group’s spokesperson, Olalekan Fagbemi, accused powerful government officials of using state instruments to illegally acquire land, disregarding existing court judgments.
Specifically, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, allegedly interfered with the execution of a court judgment regarding the Igbo Kenya expanse of land in Osogbo. The group claims Egbedun’s aides assaulted the family’s lawyer.
Furthermore, persons linked to the Adeleke government have seized the land, fenced it, and erected a billboard for ‘Livingspring Technical College Mall and Housing Estate’ without a valid court order.
The group notes that the land rightfully belongs to the Gbaemu Royal Family of Osogbo, as established by a court of competent jurisdiction.
They call on Governor Adeleke to Order his associates to obey the rule of law and respect court decisions, also Prevent the use of state instruments for personal gain, while adding that they should Protect the rights of Osun citizens.
The group also urges security agents to refrain from being used for selfish agendas.
