The Osun State High Court sitting in Ikire has adjourned the suite challenging the appointment of someone allegedly not from any of the ruling houses as the Sooko of Itaakun in Irewole local government area to November 4, 2024.

The suit was instituted by the Akire of Ikire land, Oba Olatunde Falabi over a recent declaration by the Osun State Government on the appointment of Sooko of Itaakun.

At resumed hearing before Justice Sikiru Oke, counsel to the fifth defendant was absent in the court.

The Counsel said he’s currently engaged in Bayelsa state, praying to the court to adjourn to a later date.

Justice Oke accepted the prayer of the defendant and adjourned the suit to November 4.

While speaking with the journalists, Counsel to the one of the ruling houses who are the fourth defendant and counter claimant in the suit, O. J. Erhabor explained that the adjournment is at the instance of one of the defendants in the case.

Also speaking, Prince Adeoye Dairo lamented the “tactical delay” being experienced in the hearing, stating that all past adjournments are at the instance of the fifth defendant.

“We’re here today and the case has been adjourned again. This is not the first time this case has been adjourned and it has Akwa be them (other defendants) that seek those adjournments. It’s a way to tactically delay this case.
