Adewumi Adeyemi, a lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency, has officially launched the ‘Irekandu Ladies’ Cooperative Society’.
The program aims to empower and unite women who are committed to communal improvement, economic independence, and socioeconomic development in Obokun State Constituency.
The event which was held in Obokun, was graced by Yeyeluwa Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Modupe Adeleke-Sanni, who served as the Mother of the Day, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly; Honourable Sunday Bisi, Osun State PDP Chairman; Hon. Prince Adebayo Ogungbangbe, Commissioner for Cooperatives and Employment among others.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said that the ‘Irekandu Ladies Group’ started as a grassroots movement during his first term.
He further disclosed that the group has since grown into a strong and active network.
Hon. Irekandu stressed that the cooperative society is more than simply a milestone; it is the start of greater initiatives to empower women and promote a more inclusive community.
He then reaffirmed his commitment to providing chances for women to prosper and strengthen their roles in governance and community development.
Roseline, a cooperative society member, praised Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, also known as Irekandu, for establishing the cooperative society and providing funding for its operation.
According to Roseline, the plan will enhance young women’s companies and help them achieve financial independence.
