In a solemn tribute, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared a three-day mourning period for the late Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
As part of the observance, the Osun State Government has mandated that flags be flown at half-mast throughout the state during this period.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi.
In his statement, Alimi disclosed that Condolence Registers have been opened at the Osun State Government House and the Governor’s Office, inviting the people of Osun to pay their respects and share their memories of the late General.
“The death of the Chief of Army Staff is a devastating and colossal loss to our nation and humanity,” the Commissioner stated.
“He was one of the prides of Osun State, and we join in mourning this irreplaceable loss. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Lagbaja family, the Olobu of Ilobu, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
The mourning period will commence on Thursday, November 7, 2024, and conclude on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
The government has encouraged residents to sign the Condolence Registers to honor General Lagbaja’s legacy and preserve his memory.
“We pray that God grants him Aljanna Firdaus, and that his soul finds eternal peace,” Commissioner Alimi concluded.
