The Osun State Amotekun Commander CSP Isaac Adekunle Omoyele (rtd) has clarified the corps’ mandate, emphasizing its role in arresting offenders and collaborating with law enforcement agencies.

He said this while featuring on a Insightful Moment on Insight Links TV on Friday.

The commandant explained, “We are not authorized to prosecute offenders. Our primary function is to assist the police in maintaining law and order.”

The Commander also has implemented several key initiatives for foster improved security system.

“Rigorous training programs have commenced for Amotekun personnel to improve their skills and effectiveness.

“The corps is set to acquire advanced equipment, including drones, motorcycles, and vehicles, to boost operational capacity.

The commandant also announced an increase in personnel, with over 300 agents already on the ground.

Furthermore, a digital reporting platform has been launched, allowing residents to report incidents on the Amotekun website. This platform ensures swift deployment of officers to reported crime scenes.

The commandant urged residents to report crimes in their vicinity, ensuring a safer community.

“We rely on public cooperation to effectively combat crime. Report incidents on our website, and our officers will respond promptly.”
