Osun State Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, has been praised as a driving force behind the socioeconomic and infrastructural transformation of the state in the two years since he assumed office.
Rep. Bamidele Salam, the lawmaker representing the people of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, made this commendation in a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Joshua Afolabi. The statement, which was shared with the press, marks the second anniversary of Governor Adeleke’s administration and celebrates his achievements.
Rep. Salam expressed his enthusiasm in aligning himself with the Governor’s successes, noting that Adeleke’s leadership has set a benchmark for future generations in the state.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Salam highlighted that in just two years, Governor Adeleke has secured a legacy as an outstanding administrator, with his numerous accomplishments visible across the state without the need for exaggerated claims.
Salam emphasized that the Governor’s impressive infrastructural projects and other life-changing initiatives across Osun’s communities speak volumes about his commitment to the welfare of the people.
Rep. Salam also commended Governor Adeleke for his significant strides in improving the welfare of workers and pensioners in Osun State.
Salam while mentioning some of the Adeleke’s administration achievements, he said, “Under his leadership, the Governor approved a new minimum wage of NGN 75,000 for Osun workers, a move that reflects his commitment to the well-being of the state’s workforce. In addition, he has made notable progress in addressing the salary arrears inherited from the previous administration, paying a total of seven months of half-salary from the 30-month debt owed to workers. Adeleke’s administration also facilitated the release of NGN 16 billion in bond to pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme, while ensuring the payment of NGN 2.74 billion in wage awards to civil servants and pensioners.”
Governor Adeleke’s administration has made tremendous strides across several key sectors in just two years. In healthcare, the Governor established the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach to provide immediate reprieve to the people suffering various health challenges and no fewer than 50,000 residents has benefited from it, rehabilitation of 345 primary healthcare centres (PHCs)(200 Rehabilitated and 145 ongoing), and enrolled 3,000 residents and all pensioners in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).
In education, his government has rehabilitated 631 classrooms with offices in 125 basic schools while 323 new classrooms with offices, hall and laboratories in 96 basic schools have been built. and constructed classrooms, provided educational materials, and 200 secondary school teacher and 20 ICT have been sponsored to training on Remote learning platform while 1004 school teachers got trained on use of cooperative learning strategy.
In terms of infrastructure, Governor Adeleke has overseen the construction of over 90 km of roads with more than 100km more roads at various stages of completion, as well as the building of overhead bridges and the dualization of roads to enhance connectivity and foster economic growth.
The agricultural sector has also seen significant progress, with the acquisition of 31 new tractors and the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers through the Osun CARES RA2 programmes.
Through the Osun CARES RA2, a total of 8,060 farmers has received agricultural inputs and services, out of which 3,972 were females and 4,088 were males. The inputs distributed consists of improved seed varieties, fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides among others. In two years, at least 80,000 hybrid cashew seedlings were raised and distributed to Osun farmers just as poultry farmers were empowered with several millions of naira through Osun Broiler Outgrowers Production Scheme.
The Governor has made strides in improving access to clean water by installing motorised boreholes in each ward totaling 332, upgrading waterworks, and repairing damaged equipment.
In transportation, the Governor upgraded the Office of Transportation to a Ministry, established a computerised testing station, and introduced drivers’ theory testing.
In the realm of innovation and technology, Governor Adeleke launched the Osun Tech Innovation Policy, initiated the domestication of the Nigerian StartUps Act, and expanded broadband internet access through the Osun State Broadband Fiber Optic Project.
He further demonstrated his commitment to restoring integrity within the civil service by abolishing the title of coordinating directors and reintroducing Permanent Secretaries, a decision aimed at restoring confidence and order in the public service. Additionally, the Governor’s continuous investment in the training and development of public servants has contributed to increased performance and productivity, which is vital for the sustained growth of the state.
These achievements reflect Governor Adeleke’s unwavering dedication to advancing the state’s infrastructure, economy, and public welfare, setting a strong foundation for sustained growth and development in Osun. His leadership over the past two years stands as a testament to his vision and commitment to the people of the state,” Salam explained.
“The remarkable strides you have made in infrastructural development, alongside your various programmes that have directly impacted the lives of our citizens, are clear evidence of your unwavering dedication to the progress of our state. The vision and leadership you have demonstrated have catalysed significant growth and development, and your efforts to foster unity and sustainable growth are commendable,” Salam noted.
He continued, “As you move forward in your journey of service, may you be endowed with renewed strength and wisdom to continue leading with integrity and purpose.”
