Actor and filmmaker Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY Comedian, has voiced his frustration over what he perceives as a lack of support from his male colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.
In a post on social media following the release of his latest movie, The Waiter, AY expressed his disappointment in the lack of mutual encouragement among male actors.
“And I repeat, ‘WEY TIN MAN DO MAN?’ Begging your fellow male actors to join you in promoting your film shouldn’t be a big deal. Especially when I have always been doing the same for everyone,” he wrote.
The comedian also cited the challenges filmmakers face when actors fail to fulfill promotional commitments despite contractual obligations.
“Do you know how frustrating it is to pay actors who end up promoting other films and abandoning the one that they are in… EVEN with signed contracts?” he added.
However, Comedian AY clarified that his remarks were not directed at women in the industry, praising their hard work and consistent support.
“My last tweet has nothing to do with the hardworking women who are winning in the industry as they all have direct my support and encouragement to date. MEN SHOULD ALSO SUPPORT MEN,” he concluded.
