Noni Madueke has responded to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s statement on his commitment after starring against Southampton.
Madueke returned to the Chelsea lineup in the midweek against Southampton after being dropped from the starting XI against Aston Villa in their previous game. On his return, Madueke starred with a goal and an assist as the Blues registered a thumping 5-1 win over the Saints and reduced their gap with league leaders Liverpool on the points table.
After the game, Blues manager Maresca questioned the England international’s commitment and consistency in training. However, he did mention that he shares a close bond with the 22-year-old and Madueke has now responded to the head coach’s statement as he called the Italian a truthful and honest man.
Speaking to reporters, the Blues star said: “Maresca is honest and truthful. He tells the truth and he is a man you can trust. That’s all you want from a coach. He is a coach who is straight with everyone and fair to everyone. That’s what you need at a top club like Chelsea.”
The West London side, who are on a seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions, will next face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday away from home
