Cole Palmer has broken a long-standing Chelsea record after scoring his side’s opener against Fulham.

The 22-year-old’s 16th-minute effort against Fulham at Stamford Bridge brought up his 26th Premier League goal of the year. That meant he broke Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s record of 25 goals in a Premier League calendar year, dating back to 2001.

At the time of writing, Palmer is level with former Manchester City team-mate Erling Haaland, who netted 26 Premier League goals in 2023. The England international has continued to be a revelation for Chelsea since swapping City for the Blues last year in a £42.5 million ($53.1m) move.

In just 64 appearances in all competitions for the west London team, Palmer has scored 36 goals and bagged 21 assists.

After this match concludes with their London neighbours, Palmer’s Chelsea travel to relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Monday
