As the new year begins, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has called on Nigerians to partner with the Nigeria Police Force in fostering a more secure and peaceful nation.
In a New Year message shared on Wednesday via X by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IG praised the resilience of Nigerians amidst the challenges of 2024 and reiterated his commitment to a community-focused approach to policing.
“This season of joy, reflection, and hope highlights the determination and resilience of the Nigerian people in overcoming past challenges,” the statement read. “The Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to enhancing public safety through a people-centric and community-oriented policing strategy.”
Egbetokun emphasized that combating insecurity requires collective effort, urging citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and maintain open communication with law enforcement agencies.
“The IGP calls on all Nigerians to actively contribute to building a secure and peaceful nation by collaborating with the Police, staying alert, and promptly reporting suspicious activities,” the statement continued. “Open communication channels between the public and law enforcement remain crucial to achieving these goals.”
Looking ahead, Egbetokun assured Nigerians of the Police Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“As we welcome 2025, the Nigeria Police Force remains focused on creating a safe environment that fosters growth across all sectors. Together, we can achieve a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead.”
