Arsenal were left in disbelief and surprised after seeing Myles Lewis-Skelly handed a controversial red card against Wolves at Molineux stadium on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s men were reduced to 10 men in the first half of their clash with Wolves after Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a challenge on Matt Doherty inside his own half.
This decision brought outrage on social media, with fans left stunned by the decision of Michael Olivier to send the Arsenal youngster off. Oliver’s decision was later checked and confirmed by the VAR team who uphold the decision
The decision was confirmed by the Premier League on social media as well: “The referee’s call of a red card for Lewis-Skelly was checked and confirmed by VAR, who deemed his challenge to have been serious foul play.”
Lewis-Skelly’s red card is the fourth of it likes that Arsenal have been shown in the Premier League this season, It was started with Declan Rice, William Saliba, Leandro Trossard and now the current one Lewis Skelly
However, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta may decided to appeal the red card and hope the decision could be reversed which can avoid Lewis-Skelly a ban.
The Gunners will go on to face Girona in the Champions League during the week before a clash with Manchester City in the Premier League at the following weekend
