Tensions have erupted between Afrobeats superstar Damini “Burna Boy” Ogulu and prominent socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

The feud began when Burna Boy seemingly took a swipe at the celebrity barman, a close ally of Davido, by referring to him as the “Owerri Rick Ross” in a cryptic post.

Burna Boy’s post read “No forget say u be Azaman o. And dem don gbe your plug wey him name na ‘Omo Igbo’ for ATL and na u be next #OwerriRickyrozay.”

The statement, perceived as a jab, prompted a fiery response from Cubana Chief Priest, who insinuated that Burna Boy was harboring resentment and alleged that the singer owed money to a jeweler in London.

He fired back “Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD. You never see anything, you and your bend-down collect Grammy.”

Adding fuel to the fire, he posted again “The Ferraris. The London jewelers debt. I’m coming. I have long waited for this moment. Osubrileeee oooo.”

In his defense, Burna Boy retorted by asserting that he always pays in cash and does not have debts like Cubana Chief Priest’s associates.

In a bid to further discredit the singer, Cubana Chief Priest shared a video claiming he paid Burna Boy just ₦1 million to perform at his 2018 birthday party when the artist was still relatively unknown.

He also revealed a clip of Burna Boy asking for cake at the event, emphasizing that he had been successful long before the singer’s rise to fame.

The ongoing feud has sparked diverse reactions on social media, with fans and critics weighing in on the drama.

@Wizarab10: “’Burna was poor and broke’ is not a jab. You can’t mock a successful person for once being poor. That is a credit to their success. You people are terrible at throwing shade, considering it is easy to shade Burna. This is the curse of centering everything around money.”

@effizzzyy: “Them no believe say Burna Boy go surpass all their past achievements. You reach class first no mean say na you go graduate as best student.”

@Olamide0fficial: “Burna Boy had his low days and humble beginnings, but you can’t clown him for being a real hustler. Putting his sweat and blood into this music thing and making it against all odds is a big deal. That’s a true champ!!”

@TycoonRazzi: “Cubana Chief Priest was on his own when Burna decided to shade him. Chief Priest replied, and you people are saying he shouldn’t have said this or that.”

@IsabellaAmara: “I hope you all see why Burna Boy will never forgive Speed Darlington. It takes one bad talk to damage someone’s reputation. I will never forgive anyone who tampered with my reputation. Never!!!”

While some fans support Burna Boy’s resilience and journey, others argue that Cubana Chief Priest has every right to respond to the perceived slight.

The drama continues to dominate social media, fueling debates about success, humility, and public spats in the entertainment industry.
