Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, former pastor at the City of David parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has announced that his newly established ministry, The Family Fellowship, has secured a permanent site at Eko Atlantic.
While speaking during the church’s second service at the Civic Centre, Pastor Iluyomade revealed that the land was donated by a church member.
He seized the moment to encourage Christians to embrace the act of giving, both to others and in support of God’s work. He acknowledged that many believers struggle with the principle of giving, but emphasized that it is a sacrificial act that invites God’s blessings.
In his sermon, titled “Giving,” Pastor Iluyomade stressed the importance of understanding biblical teachings on offerings and tithes.
“As believers, you have to be very careful because there are many doctrines flying around today. I want us to reason together, because there have been so many teachings about giving,” he warned.
“If you’re not careful, you might miss it in this area, and that’s the truth.”
He continued: “Your giving starts with your offering. Tithing belongs to God—10 percent of your income is His. And God knows mathematics. Many people avoid reading Malachi 3, where God complains about people robbing Him in tithes and offerings.”
“We need to repent. If God calls us robbers, we must ask ourselves: will any robber enter heaven? And how much is this 10 percent that God is asking for? If I were God, I might ask for more, but He only asks for 10 percent to bless the rest. Let’s reflect on that,” he added.
Pastor Iluyomade also cautioned worshippers against having a careless attitude toward paying their tithes. However, he equally stressed the importance of assisting the poor and needy, particularly during challenging times.
“Ministry costs money—that’s why God told us to bring tithes so the needs of His house can be met. As for offerings, God says everyone should give according to how He has blessed them. Naturally, the rich should give more than those with less. We must give in proportion to our prosperity,” he explained.
Additionally, Pastor Iluyomade encouraged Christians to live holy and righteous lives, reminding them not to neglect these core aspects of faith.
At the service, two members of the church contributed ₦4 million to Bethesda Home & School for the Blind, demonstrating the generosity Pastor Iluyomade had spoken about in his sermon.
