The father of Timilehin Ajayi, the gospel singer detained for the killing of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu, has appealed for his son’s release.
According to Vanguard, Ajayi was found with Adaidu’s severed head in a polythene bag and has been remanded in custody by a Nasarawa State High Court.
The tragic event occurred in Agwan Sarki, a community near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While Salome’s family continues to mourn, Ajayi’s father is seeking his son’s release. In an interview with Channels Television, he expressed his plea: “I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg for his release,” he said.
However, Ajayi’s mother expressed a more resigned view, stating that she has left the matter to the authorities. “If it was one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she remarked. “So the government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands,” she concluded.
During his interrogation, Ajayi, who also identifies as a motivational speaker on TikTok, confessed to the crime.
In a widely circulated video, he stated that he had been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu before her death. He claimed that a heated argument escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Adaidu allegedly attempted to stab him.
Ajayi, who released the album God of the Earth in 2020, also revealed that the rest of Adaidu’s body was at his home. A viral video later showed a group of men burying Adaidu’s remains amidst sorrowful wails.
