Nollywood powerhouses Funke Akindele and Stephen Oluboyo have topped the charts as the highest-grossing writers for 2024.

 

Funke Akindele, alongside Collins Okoh and Akinlabi Ishola, earned the second spot with their film Everybody Loves Jennifer, which raked in N1.125 billion at the box office.

 

Meanwhile, Stephen Oluboyo claimed the top spot, thanks to his contributions to Everybody Loves Jennifer, Alakada Bad and Boujee, and Aburo, which collectively grossed N1.38 billion.

Other notable writers include Anthony Joseph, who secured the third position with Queen Lateefah, The Waiter, and Alakada Bad and Boujee, earning N780 million. Jack’ Enneth Opukeme followed closely, ranking fourth with Farmer’s Bride and All’s Fair in Love, which earned N299 million.

Stephen Okonkwo claimed the fifth spot for his work on Ajosepo, while Adebayo Tijani and Ola Olaoye tied for sixth place with Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju, grossing N253 million.

 

Oluyombo Oluwagbemiga and Toyin Abraham ranked seventh, with Alakada Bad and Boujee generating N229 million.

 

Rounding out the top 10, Odunlade Adekola and Akorede Ibrahim secured eighth place with Lakatabu at N202 million, Ayo Makun took ninth with The Waiter (N185 million), and Tunde Babalola placed tenth with Funmilayo Ransom Kuti (N157 million).

 

This impressive list showcases the growing influence of Nollywood writers in the global box office landscape.
