Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), has expressed his frustrations over the strained relationship with his late son’s wife and child.

During an interview on Silverbird TV on Friday, Aloba also shared his concerns about the ongoing legal proceedings related to Mohbad’s tragic death.

Aloba revealed that since his son’s passing, he has not seen Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, or their son, Liam. He emphasized that it is not his responsibility to reach out to them.

He said, “I haven’t seen Mohbad’s wife and son since his death. Not even my son, Adura, came to me. They know where I live; they’re supposed to come to me. The way I see it, they should have brought that child to me and said, ‘This is your grandson.’”

He further stated, “I asked for a DNA test. They should have said, ‘Daddy, do it at your convenience,’ but they’ve been hiding it. Now it’s a public matter. Let the court decide, and I’ll know what to do from there.”

Aloba also dismissed claims that the child resembles Mohbad, saying, “No, no, no. From what I see, he doesn’t look like him. If the DNA proves it, I’ll accept it.”

Aloba also revealed that his son, Adura, who had been living with Mohbad, has withdrawn and has not contacted or visited him since the singer’s death.

He expressed his concern, saying, “Adura is 22 now, but he hasn’t called or visited me since his brother’s death. It feels like someone is keeping him away. We used to be close, but something changed after Mohbad’s passing. Adura should be the one to tell me what happened to his brother since they were living together.”

Aloba criticized the delays in the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death and called on the Lagos State government to reopen the investigation.

He disclosed that a private autopsy had been conducted, but the results are still sealed until the inquest resumes.

He said, “The delay in the process is frustrating. Delay leads to denial. I appreciate those working with me, but I’m not satisfied with how things are progressing. The coroner’s inquest was delayed, and I’m appealing to the Lagos State government to reopen it. There’s a lot we should be doing now. We’ve done the private autopsy, but I can’t reveal the results until the coroner’s inquest continues.”

Aloba added, “I paid for the autopsy, but I haven’t seen the results. The court ordered it, so it’s for them to present the results, not me. But since the court is closed, I can’t demand it. When I inquired, I was told they can’t present the results in court unless someone has witnessed it.”
