Alhaji Abdulkareem Adedokun, an imam from Owo in Ondo State, has placed a curse on the cultists responsible for the murder of his wife, Temitope Adedokun, and his son, Abdulmalik Adedokun, who were killed during a violent cult clash in the town.

The tragedy occurred on January 6, 2025, when a clash between rival cult groups resulted in the deaths of four people, including the imam’s wife and son.

In response to the violence, the Ondo State Government imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the area, while the police confirmed the arrest of 19 individuals linked to the incident.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, the imam expressed his sorrow and anger, detailing how his wife and son were attacked in her shop during the clash.

The post, titled Open Letter to the People of Owo Local Government in Ondo State, Home and Abroad, and the General Public on the Killing of My Wife and Son by Cult Members in Owo on 6th January 2025, conveyed his profound grief and frustration.

Imam Adedokun wrote, “I, Imam Alhaji Abdulkareem Adedokun, am using this medium to inform the public about the heinous act committed by cultists in Owo, who killed my wife, Temitope, and my young son, Abdulmalik, on January 6, 2025. They invaded my wife’s shop and mercilessly killed them both.

“The most painful aspect of this tragedy is how politicians have begun playing politics with the deaths of my loved ones, despite the fact that no member of the Adedokun family has ever been involved in cult activities.”

The imam went on to invoke a curse, stating: “I stand on the authority of my grandfather, Almustaph Adedeji Jika Anabi, who brought Islam to Owo and much of Ondo State, to lay a curse on the killers of my wife and son, all members of their cult, their supporters—including politicians and traditional leaders—and those protecting them from justice.”

“This curse will extend to their families. From today, any child born into their families will meet a mysterious death at the same age my son Abdulmalik was when they killed him. This curse will stand forever unless they bring my son back to life.”

He concluded his post by saying, “God bless anyone who shares this post. Imam Abdulkareem Adedokun.”
