Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as K1 De Ultimate, has stood by a controversial remark he made about Islamic clerics (Alfas) during his late mother’s Fidau prayer, despite widespread criticism.
In a video clip that surfaced, K1 was heard using the term “Ganusi” while speaking with someone in preparation for his mother’s 8-day Fidau prayer. Many people interpreted this as a reference to certain Alfas, suggesting that they attend such events mainly for financial gain.
The Fidau prayer, an important Islamic tradition held in remembrance of the deceased, took place on Friday, January 24, and was attended by various celebrities and respected religious figures, including Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who led the sermon.
During his address, Sheikh Onikijipa criticized K1’s comment and urged the musician to apologize to the Alfas.
Despite the backlash, K1 De Ultimate has refused to apologize, maintaining that he did nothing wrong.
He explained, “To apologize would mean admitting guilt, and there’s no reason for that because I have done nothing wrong. If I admit guilt, I’d be accepting the accusations, which are not true.”
