Gospel artist Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden for his unwavering commitment to service.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the couple also thanked Biden for recognizing their contributions to the United States through their music.
In October 2024, President Biden, 82, honored Chinwo and Uzochikwa with the prestigious President’s Lifetime Service Award, which acknowledges individuals who have shown a lifetime commitment to volunteerism and national service.
This award highlighted the couple’s dedication to making a positive impact on communities both in the U.S. and internationally through their ministry and music.
Reflecting on Biden’s legacy, the couple quoted Ecclesiastes 3:1, which says, “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
They emphasized that Biden’s time in office, like all chapters of life, will eventually give way to the next, but the legacy he leaves behind is what truly matters.
“We are profoundly grateful for receiving the President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award last year,” they said in the statement.
“It is a reminder to stay focused on serving humanity through charity, education, and faith-based values. We extend our sincere thanks to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their dedication to service and community impact. As they retire, we wish them peace and love in this next chapter of their lives.”
Mercy Chinwo and Blessed Uzochikwa, married in August 2022, co-own Grace and Truth Nation, a music label that has nurtured many gospel artists.
