Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims he and his family have been bombarded with death threats following his remarks about Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Morka alleged the threats were instigated by Obi’s accusation that comments he made during a Sunday interview on Arise Television posed a threat to Obi’s life.

Appearing again on Arise News on Wednesday, Morka disclosed he had received over 400 threats, with approximately 200 explicitly detailing violent intentions.

“Peter Obi’s claim that my words threatened his life has led to severe repercussions,” Morka said. “I have documented 400 threats, including about 200 explicit death threats. These threats describe in graphic detail plans to shoot, behead, or otherwise harm me. Even members of my family have not been spared.”

Morka strongly denied issuing any threats, calling Obi’s allegations baseless. “I categorically did not threaten Peter Obi. Those issuing these threats are acting independently. I trust that law enforcement will act swiftly,” he stated.

The controversy began after Morka’s remarks on Sunday, where he accused Obi of “crossing the line” in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and suggested Obi “deserved whatever came his way.” These comments sparked widespread backlash.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar condemned Morka’s language, demanding an apology from the APC to Obi and Nigerians. Similarly, the Labour Party issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Tinubu, urging him to sanction Morka.

Marcel Ngogbehei, Director-General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilisation, described the comments as part of a broader campaign against Obi, following his New Year’s address on the state of the nation.
