Controversial social media influencer and self-acclaimed therapist, Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has stirred public debate by confirming her romantic relationship with businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly called IVD.

The relationship has drawn criticism, particularly because IVD was allegedly her client.

His name has been entangled in controversy following the death of his wife in 2022 under questionable circumstances. Many argue that it is unethical for a therapist to date someone they counsel.

However, in an interview with Sunday Scoop, Blessing defended her actions, insisting there was nothing inappropriate about the relationship.

She explained, “When people come to you, they come for a specific purpose. Beyond that, anything can happen. Relationships, dating, or even marriage often stem from everyday encounters.”

She further clarified that her relationship with IVD wasn’t built on immediate romantic feelings.

“For me and IVD, it wasn’t love at first sight; it was work. I saw a man being intimidated and bullied, and my initial intention was to help,” she said.

Speaking about IVD’s history, which includes allegations of domestic violence and infidelity during his marriage, Blessing criticized the media for its portrayal of him. According to her, the public perception is far from the truth.

“I know IVD beyond the headlines his flaws, vulnerabilities, and all. That’s why I’m his therapist,” she stated.

“The man I know isn’t the one described by the media. I feel privileged to see a side of him others don’t. I’ve never experienced the violence or womanizing people talk about. In the three years we’ve been close, we’ve had access to each other’s phones, and I’ve seen nothing to match the accusations.”

She described IVD as a caring and gentle individual, saying, “What I’ve found in IVD is someone tender and misunderstood. I’m a strong woman, and for me to love someone like him, he must truly be exceptional. I believe real love challenges you, and if it doesn’t spark conversations or shake things up, it’s not love to me.”

Blessing’s statements have reignited debates about the ethical boundaries therapists should maintain with their clients, drawing mixed reactions from the public.
