As the ongoing ‘ganusi’ controversy between Fuji icon King Wasiu Ayinde (K1 de Ultimate) and Muslim clerics continues to make waves, his industry rival, Abass Akande (Obesere), has won public praise for celebrating his 60th birthday through acts of charity.

Born on January 28, 1965, Akande, also known as Omorapala, chose to mark his milestone by building a mosque at his former secondary school in Lagos. Additionally, the Fuji star made generous donations of essential educational materials such as books and school bags for the students.

Obesere shared a video of the newly constructed mosque on Instagram, expressing his commitment to continue his philanthropic efforts. “To God be the Glory! Today, we commissioned the newly built mosque at my alma mater and donated learning materials to the pupils. This will continue and won’t stop for a bit,” he said.

This display of generosity came amidst the controversy surrounding K1, which began after the musician’s comments about Muslim clerics following the burial of his mother. K1 had used the phrase ‘ganu si’ during a conversation about the clerics who visited his home after the burial, which many found offensive. The term was seen as an insult, suggesting that the clerics were attending events for personal gain.

At the 8-day Fidau prayer for his late mother on January 24, Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, a prominent cleric, publicly urged K1 to apologize for his remarks.

However, K1 refused, stating that admitting fault by apologizing would imply guilt. His refusal sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting his stance while others criticized him for undermining the clerics.
