The Ogun State Police Command has raised the alarm over a worrying increase in missing persons reports across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that cases involving individuals of all age groups have reached unprecedented levels.

Odutola revealed that while a few of the missing individuals have been found, many remain unaccounted for, causing deep concern among families and communities.

She emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged residents to take proactive steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“As a responsive and community-oriented force, we are committed to raising awareness and addressing this disturbing trend to ensure public safety,” Odutola stated.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has introduced key safety guidelines to tackle the issue.

Parents have been advised to monitor their children closely and avoid allowing them to use commercial transport services with strangers.

Additionally, young people are encouraged to use location-sharing features on their mobile devices, particularly when traveling or in distress.

The command also urged the public to report any suspicious activities and provided dedicated emergency contact numbers for assistance: the police control room at 09164859299 and the Police Public Relations Department at 09159578888.

The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and urged the public to stay security-conscious amid the rise in missing persons cases.
