Sekinat Taiwo, a Nigerian cyclist, has shattered a Guinness World Record by covering an impressive 347 kilometers on an electric tricycle, surpassing the 250-kilometer target in a 12-hour race on a closed circuit at the National Theatre in Lagos State.

Taiwo set the record for the longest distance covered by an electric auto-rickshaw in 12 hours, utilizing the Teak EV’s advanced lithium-ion battery technology. The achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records adjudicator, Carl Saville.

Olabanjo Alimi, CEO of Qoray Mobility and Energies Limited, described the feat as a significant milestone for both Nigeria and the global push for sustainable transportation.

He remarked, “This is not just a record for Qoray – it’s a milestone for Nigeria and the global transition to sustainable transport. It shows that African innovation is not only competitive but transformative.”

Alimi continued, “This achievement sets the stage for cleaner, more accessible, and efficient transportation solutions originating from Africa.

The National Theatre, a symbol of Nigerian cultural excellence, was instrumental, providing the venue for mock tests and the record-breaking attempt.”

He further praised Taiwo’s dedication, saying, “Sekinat Taiwo’s endurance and skill made this record possible. Her achievement is a testament to determination and innovation. It sends a powerful message that African solutions, driven by creativity, can stand on par with the best worldwide.”

This landmark achievement represents more than just a triumph for Qoray Mobility – it marks the promise of a greener, more innovative future for transportation.
