Media personality Toke Makinwa has sharply criticized music artist 2Baba for publicly revealing his divorce from wife Annie.
On Sunday, 2Baba took to Instagram to announce that he and Annie had been separated for some time and were now moving forward with a divorce, ending their 12-year marriage.
Responding directly to the video, where 2Baba admitted to making the controversial public announcement, Toke expressed her disapproval, writing, “This is wrong on all levels. You should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. If you think she’s alone, let me make it clear you’ll have to face all of us.”
Toke continued her critique by addressing those staying neutral on the matter, posting on her Instagram story.
“I’m not one for too much talk, but what’s wrong is wrong. As a woman, if you sit on the fence, it could affect your daughter or any female in your family. No one is innocent, and if you choose to bring the media into it, knowing what’s really going on, we’ll fight for her.”
Unyielding, Makinwa took to Instagram again on Monday to question 2Baba’s decision to publicly share their divorce, stressing that the full truth would eventually come out.
She wrote, “Nobody should stay in a situation that no longer serves them. If you must leave, then leave, but why put this online now? We know what’s going on behind closed doors. The public has no idea, and it’s already causing chaos with all the opinions”.
“When I say we’ll fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public. A few of us know the truth, and time will reveal it. Timing matters, empathy matters. You preach love, yet you’re adding to the narrative when you know what’s really going on behind closed doors.”
