The All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi on Thursday, accusing him of presenting himself as an “omniscient” figure in tackling national issues while leaving no notable achievements during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.
In a statement, the APC stated that as Nigerians usher in the New Year with optimism for 2025, Obi remains fixated on a “gloom-ridden wishlist” for the country.
According to the party, Obi’s “obsessive pessimism” and repeated attempts to provoke public discontent against President Bola Tinubu’s administration stem from fears of political irrelevance due to Tinubu’s transformative reforms.
“Obi’s New Year message, in which he claimed that the political, economic, and security conditions in Nigeria are deteriorating daily, is both misleading and a ploy to gain cheap political points,” the APC remarked.
The party noted that contrary to Obi’s assertions, indicators suggest that Nigeria is experiencing significant progress across various sectors.
APC spokesperson Felix Morka further emphasized the positive outcomes of Tinubu’s reforms.
He highlighted the President’s acknowledgment of rising costs of food and essential drugs, alongside his commitment to addressing these issues by increasing local food and drug production.
Morka also called Obi’s leadership record into question, describing it as devoid of transformational achievements during his eight years in office.
“It is ironic that Peter Obi, who now portrays himself as a solution to the nation’s challenges, failed to leave a meaningful legacy in Anambra State,” Morka stated.
He concluded by reiterating that Obi and his counterparts in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are desperate to remain relevant, even as Tinubu’s visionary leadership continues to reshape Nigeria’s fundamental pillars for sustainable growth and development.
