Mohammed El-Rufai, the eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has voiced his support for the ongoing investigation into his father’s administration, as long as it is carried out impartially and fairly.
In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday, Mohammed stressed the importance of accountability but warned against using probes for political gain.
He stated that the investigation should aim to uncover the truth, rather than to settle personal vendettas. “If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only hinder progress,” he remarked.
As a member of the House of Representatives, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed also commented on the reported tension between his father and his successor, Governor Uba Sani.
He downplayed the media’s portrayal of a major conflict, suggesting the situation had been exaggerated. While he expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing rift, he clarified that it was not his role to mediate. His focus remains on serving his constituents and promoting effective governance.
Mohammed further noted that certain unnamed individuals might be benefiting from the discord between his father and Governor Sani.
Both he and his father have been openly critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite being members of the APC.
