The Headies, Nigeria’s premier music awards, unveiled the highly anticipated nominations for its 17th edition on Wednesday.
The list highlights a mix of local and international artists recognized for their outstanding contributions to the music scene over the past year.
Odumodublvck, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, earned the highest number of nominations with five, while Ayra Starr (Oyinkansola Aderibigbe) and Shallipopi (Crown Uzama) followed closely with three each.
Odumodublvck also secured nominations for Best Collaboration with two tracks, competing alongside Chike, Wizkid, Zlatan, Asa, and Tiwa Savage.
In a poignant tribute, the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, earned three nominations, even though he passed away on September 12, 2023, marking a significant moment in the awards.
The categories revealed via the Headies’ official X account include Producer of the Year, Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Rookie of the Year, Best Rap Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Music Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration.
