The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that Ibadan Airport will be closed for six months starting in early March for necessary maintenance and upgrades.

Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s publicist, made the announcement via his X handle.

This closure follows the approval of President Bola Tinubu in June for the airport’s upgrade to international status.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had previously revealed this development, noting that the expansion will allow international flights to operate from Ibadan once completed.

In addition to the runway expansion, upgrades will include the construction of a new international terminal, as part of a phased improvement plan.

The first phase, which started in September 2024, involves runway enhancements, lighting upgrades, and fire service improvements.
