Yusuf Dantalle, the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to apologize for his claim that opposition leaders are receiving N50 million from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilize opposition parties.
Atiku recently alleged that the Federal Government is paying certain opposition members and leaders N50 million to undermine their parties.
In response, Dantalle, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, emphasized that the accusation should not be taken lightly.
“You may have your sources, but that doesn’t justify publicly claiming that all opposition members are receiving N50 million. As far as I know, I represent the Allied Peoples Movement, and as the head of the umbrella body for all Nigerian political parties, there is no national chairman or leader I am aware of who has received any such funds,” he stated.
Dantalle criticized Atiku for stirring unnecessary tension and creating an atmosphere of suspicion. He further urged Atiku to either apologize to the opposition leaders he accused or specifically identify those allegedly involved.
“What I expect from Atiku, with all due respect, is an apology to the opposition leaders, or at the very least, for him to name the individuals implicated in these baseless claims,” he added.
The IPAC leader also noted that political party chairmen across the country are outraged by Atiku’s statement.
