Reports surfaced on Thursday stating that Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, are divorcing, following a turbulent two-week period for the rapper whose career has recently been marred by controversy. Both individuals have reportedly sought legal counsel regarding the divorce, according to TMZ, while the Daily Mail stated that Censori, a 30-year-old architect, has agreed to a $5 million settlement.
This news comes just days after the couple made headlines with a shocking red carpet appearance, where Censori walked alongside her husband, naked. The spectacle, which took place at the Grammy Awards, sparked concerns that West, 47, may have been pressuring his wife, who has often been seen in semi-nude attire throughout their two-year marriage.
Following the event, West, who now goes by “Ye,” went on a multi-day rant on X (formerly Twitter), where he made controversial statements, including calling himself a “Nazi” and claiming he had “dominion over” his wife. One post read, “I don’t make her do nothing she doesn’t want to but she definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without my approval,” written in all caps without punctuation. His account was deactivated later in the week, though it’s unclear if it was suspended by X or voluntarily taken down.
West’s controversial actions continued when his Yeezy.com website was removed after it began selling T-shirts featuring a swastika. Shopify, the e-commerce provider, pulled the site for violating its terms of service.
According to the New York Post, Censori reached her breaking point with West’s actions. A source close to her said, “She’s had enough… The swastika shirt was the last straw. She told him that’s not who she is, and that she can’t be associated with that.” The source added that Censori no longer wanted to be part of the “circus” surrounding West. Despite this, West reportedly believes that she will return to him, claiming she’s simply upset.
However, a representative for the couple, right-wing figure Milo Yiannopoulos, denied the reports of a split. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “Ye and Bianca are in Los Angeles, about to enjoy Valentine’s Day together. Announcements about their private life will come from them directly, not unsourced rumor in the tabloid press.”
West, who has previously spoken about his struggles with bipolar disorder and now identifies as autistic, was married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian, with whom he shares four children. They divorced in 2022.
