Enzo Maresca of Chelsea has hinted that Filip Jorgensen might not start in future after his mistake cost Chelsea in the game against Aston Villa.
Jorgensen’s goalkeeping blunder cost Chelsea a crucial points on Saturday against Aston Villa as they yet again dropped points from a winning situation.
Maresca’s men took the lead in the ninth minute of the game through Enzo Fernandez’s strike but Marco Asensio’s sensational form continues as he bagged a second-half brace to secured all three points for the Villans.
After the match, Maresca hinted that he could reinstate Robert Sanchez back as the team’s first-choice custodian as the Italian told reporters: “I don’t know. At this moment, it is not today’s mistake that I am going to change my mind about Filip in this moment. We will see.
“The keeper position is a delicate one. The striker can miss the goal and sometimes it doesn’t look so important but when the keeper makes a mistake, it’s always clear. We need to support each other, stay strong and work hard. In two days, we have one more game at home and hopefully, we can finally win in front of our fans.”
Since moving to Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer, Jorgensen has appeared in 16 matches across all competitions with most of them coming in the cup competitions. Since the start of February, though, Maresca started including him in the first eleven as he played the club’s last three Premier League matches.
This is Chelsea’s second consecutive defeat in the Premier League this season, the Stamford Bridge side will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Southampton for a crucial Premier League match.
