Chinedu Ani, better known as Nedu Wazobia, a media personality and talk show host, has addressed the recent controversies surrounding his involvement in the Honest Bunch podcast.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Lagos, Nedu clarified that he wasn’t fired from the show but voluntarily stepped down due to increasing pressure and the surrounding controversies.
Nedu acknowledged that everyone has the right to voice their opinions and react to various issues, but emphasized that public perception ultimately shapes what people believe.
“I’ve chosen to step away from the show rather than engage in unnecessary conflicts,” he explained.
In response to allegations that he was the source of the tensions on the podcast, Nedu explained that his role was to play the “devil’s advocate.”
He stated, “My job on the podcast was to create an environment where guests felt comfortable while encouraging thought-provoking discussions. I asked questions that were meant to stir controversy and debates, which is exactly what I did.”
The controversy began when comedian and reality star DeeOne accused social media critic VeryDarkMan of having intimate relations with men on the podcast.
VDM later responded by accusing Nedu of masterminding the allegations and leaking private conversations between them. He also accused Nedu of exploiting him sexually, claiming he had shared personal details about his encounters with women.
Amid these allegations, Nedu announced on February 14 that he would be stepping down from his role on the podcast. However, rumors quickly spread that he had been fired due to the ongoing controversy.
Nedu reaffirmed his desire to avoid conflict with anyone, stating that his main priority was maintaining a positive public image. He also made a shocking announcement, stating he would no longer be accessible to the public.
“I’m done being nice. My kindness has been taken for granted, and I’ve been mistreated by people who claim to be my friends. I’m tired of being used and exploited,” he shared. “If you have my number, please delete it. I no longer want to be reachable. I need to focus on myself and my well-being. The ‘nice guy’ part of Nedu is dead. I’m done being nice.”
Nedu’s management team also responded to the ongoing attacks on his character. “The accusations against Nedu have gone beyond petty issues; they’ve crossed a line. We won’t tolerate further attacks on his character. Lawyers will be taking appropriate legal action to address these false claims,” the team said.
