Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of LoveWorld (Christ Embassy), has shed light on why some gospel artistes departed from his church.
According to Oyakhilome, the artists began prioritizing fame and financial success over their spiritual calling.
He expressed his concern that worship in the church had taken on a worldly tone, with the music no longer reflecting true devotion.
He pointed out that while these artistes were active in leading praise and worship, they often neglected prayer sessions, which he saw as a sign of their lack of genuine commitment to serving God.
“The church turned into a party place instead of a space for true worship and prayer,” Oyakhilome said in a viral video. “They weren’t soul winners; they led praise in church, but disappeared when it was time for prayers.”
He also noted that many of the musicians began charging fees for their performances, focusing more on personal success than their spiritual responsibilities.
While initially grateful for their contributions, Oyakhilome made attempts to guide them back to their original purpose but faced resistance.
“I told them that the Lord wanted us to stay on the right path. They had become too popular, and the little money they were earning was too tempting for them. Do they even know what big money is? They didn’t want to follow me, so they took a different route,” he explained.
